October 2007

Our best gig, the one by which all others will be judged, was at the Blue Moon Saloon in King Harbor at the Redondo Beach Marina Redondo Beach, CA. Baker Street had the distinct pleasure of being the house band from February 2001 through its closing in February of 2003. All gigs end, this one was no different. Some good friends have passed on since those days and we miss them too. We sure did have some fun together! Here’s where we’ve been since those ‘good old days’.

2007

August 19, 2007 – Tustin Brewing Company Tustin, CA. An almost acoustic set sans drummer and bass guitarist. Billed as The Wright Stuff.
June 29, 2007 – Crown Capital Securities’ National Meeting held at the Loew’s Coronado Bay Resort. Jim Tomich was the fifth man for this extra fancy pirate-themed event.
May 11, 2007 - Long Beach Ski Club Awards Dinner at the Rio Hondo Event Center in Downey CA. Richard Martinez made this a Blue Moon Reunion for us. Julian Bardi came out and sat in on the Tones’ tribute set.
February 2, 2007 - Tustin Brewing Company, Tustin, CA Billed as Wright Stuff.
January 26, 2007 – Crown Capital Securities Top Achievers retreat at the Alisal Guest Ranch Solvang CA. Horray For Hollywood theme.

2006

December 15, 2006 – Harvard Eye Associates Christmas Party at the Marbella Country Club, San Juan Capistrano, CA
September 16^th and 23^rd, 2006 – I played bass for the Mike Forbes Explosion Band. One gig was at Terra Bella at the old Huntington Beach Town Center and the other was at the Long Beach Marina way down off Wilmington. We were apparently so loud at this last gig that the police shut us down. Now that was cool!
June 22, 2006 – Crown Capital Securities’ National Meeting at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott, Dana Point, CA. Surf and Stones Theme. We did the first hour as a surf band. We ended with a 16-song Strolling Tones Tribute Show. Shazzam!
April 9, 2006 – Tustin Brewing Company, Tustin CA
April 1, 2006 – Redondo Beach Elks Lodge Inaugural Ball, Redondo Beach, CA.
January 29, 2006 – Tustin Brewing Company, Tustin CA. Pre-Super Bowl Mug Club party billed as the Wright Stuff

December 3, 2005 – Steven Diaz’s Company (Verizon?) Christmas Party at Delzano’s in King Harbor Redondo Beach CA. Jeannette, Julian’s wife, shot some cell phone footage that has would be good web fare.

November 26, 2005 Westminster Elks, who knows why. It was cold, we played outside, and there was next to no one there, at least outside. But it sounded great! Julian on Bass, Richard on Drums, Tomich on the lead guitar, and Tina singing backup. She hadn’t seen the show and as each song ended she could be heard laughing. Richard even had favorable comments on the progress of the show.
June 26, 2005 Pasadena Police Department’s Street Fair. We set up in the middle of Colorado Boulevard and I danced up and down the street. I learned how important it was to properly place my wireless microphone’s receiver at this one.
April 9, 2005 50^th (That’s Fiftieth!) Wedding Anniversary Party at Phyllis Paulson’s home in Orange CA. Is that a long time to be married or what?
We did numerous engagements at TBC throughout this year. Crown Capital had us do their retreat and national meeting. We also did a wedding from a TBC referral.

November 19, 2004 Luanna & Jose’s wedding at Delzano’s in Redondo Beach Marina. These are the progeny of our Blue Moon friends.

September 25, 2004 Ryan O’Hare’s wedding at Fess Parker’s Hotel in Santa Barbara, CA. Ryan was the host for a good part of out tenure at the Blue Moon. His parents sought us out to play the wedding. Thank You!

September 17^th and 18^th and August 14^th, 2004 the Bull Pen, Redondo Beach, CA.

July 10, 2004 Rita Vedvick’s 50^th Birthday Bash at the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne CA.

We did Crown Capital’s National in June at the Waterfront Hilton in Huntington Beach and their retreat at Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang in January.

December 31, 2003 The Golden Lotus, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. New Years Eve gala.

We played the Redondo Elks, The Bull Pen, and a private party in Whittier between the above gig and the next one

February 6, 2001 through February 2003 Blue Moon Saloon King Harbor at the Redondo Beach Marina Redondo Beach CA.

There were actually a few renditions of Baker Street that played at a few hole-in-the-wall places dating back to August of 1998. But the nucleus of Earl, Jimmie and Brett first played under that name at The Eagle’s Nest in Hawthorne CA. That was August of 2000. Sometime after that wonderland I got a call from Jim Tomich about an opportunity in Redondo Beach. So I gave them a call and talked to Debbie Slaten.
